Since it was first identified in Wuhan, China, in early January 2020, the virus has mutated, and different variants have emerged, with some more transmissible and deadly than others. 

Viruses undergo change and mutate when they are widely circulating and causing infections in populations.  So what are the different COVID-19 variants are there in the US?
